new dinner bowl

Post by Yael »

I got tired of trying to keep track of how well my puffer was eating his snails and some kept getting lost in the tank so I decided to create a snail feeder.
One shot glass, half a dozen snails and a nano second to figure it out and my puffer has a new dinner bowl.

Why? They are hunters. Let them do that. They need the exercise.

He hunts anyway and there are places in the tank he has a hard time getting to (BBGs refuges). Also sometimes he gets pieces of shrimp and doesn't eat all of it so I want some way to find it easily to remove it. I have a fairly strong cross current going in the tank so he gets plenty of exercise swimming in and around that too. The other advantage is that he learns to approach towards me (I sit on that side of the tank) and up until recently he was very very shy and wary. This placement gets him to swim the full length of the tank and come towards me so he learns it's ok.

RTR is right--careful that he doesn't quickly become obese from lack of exercise, overeating & laziness.

He's fine, he's healthy, he swims around and I don't over feed him. Can't you guys just lighten up sometimes and enjoy a picture without getting preachy? I left this forum for awhile because of the grumpiness and I guess I'm going to have to do so again. Really it isn't any wonder there's so little activity.

That is a neat pic! Never thought I would ever see a puffer in a shot glass :)
