Tank cover, yes or no
First of all very sorry for all the questions right in a row but I don't kno who else to ask. My LFS hasn't given me accurate advice on most things. This should be the last one, for the night. I had a lid made for my tank. I have two beautiful pitbulls and I would hate for anything to happen to them or Juke (puffer). So the lid is for safety, but also very annoying. How many others use a lid? Anyone have problems with puffers jumping out of tank?

Absolutely! Puffers are adept jumpers. Lost too many from leaving cover open or none at all.

Everybody has problems with puffers jumping out. Quite a few other fish do so as well.
I don't like covers either - they are in the way and require too much cleaning and they etch over time. I replace many covers, very few tanks. But I do use them to protect my fish and to reduce evaporation.

Ok thank you for all the quick responses. All very helpful information! Sorry about all the separate posts. I'm unfamiliar to forums and computers really. Trying to learn quickly.
My tank did not come with a canopy so I had a plexiglass lid made. It's just annoying to remove the lighting and lid every time I have to get in there. But worth it to protect animals. I would hate to come home to a dead fish and dog!

Cut the lid in 1/2 the long way, so you only have to lift 1 panel of it.
