?...ill dismiss that as a misunderstanding.
I agree with rtr, their is nothing natural about our hobby. And as I stated, un natural does not mean non nutrious so I brought that statement up in context.

We keep fish in a box, un natural.
We feed saltwater food to fresh water puffers, un natural.
We dose our tanks with conditioners, un natural.
Etc. foods, subtrate filtration decor etc.

Dont dismiss life on land as food based on natures intent, foolish. Beefhearts not something I would do but im not dissmissing it as a possibility because cows dont swim itn the ocean or do laps in the nile.

I have no beef here, just stating a position that was once strongly expressed to me, which I agree with.

Pun inteded.

That picture.... is awesome. Seriously though, I agree. Fish haven't evolved to digest terrestrial mammal meats, so I would assume that while the occaisonal treat of such isn't going to kill them, the accumulative and long-term feeding might result in their early demise. I could be wrong because you know what they say about assuming... but just my thoughts =P.

LOL! Evil or good twins are not required, just a bit of living within science.

But I do still hold fish-keeping to be highly unnatural. Keeping wildlife in glass or plastic boxes is not natural. But we can provide for a high multiple of "natural" lifespans as experienced by their wild kin. We can even breed quite a few species indefinitely in captivity. Although hobbyists have over-mixed a number of species historically, and we cannot yet breed most puffers in captivity, we can house and keep many rather demanding fish for multiples of most wild lifespans. Just do not kid yourself that a biotope aquarium is in any way related to the wild condition in reality. It is not.

I see you have edited the OP to remove the picture (the one I used above) - would you like me to remove it also? - I don't mind doing so since it's your fish after all and the ownership of the picture is ultimately yours
