Mussel shell

Post by Seeked911 »

Hi all,

I have 3 GSP in a 55G tank and they are awsome!
It's hard to tell how big they are but they are under 2" (1.5-1.75")

Yesterday i gave them a mussel (shell and all) that i had tawed and crushed it. They ate all the flesh in a mather of minutes and they loved it.

I was expecting them to pic at the shell like they would on a snail. They didn't. Is mussel shell to hard for them at their age?
I want to avoir snails in my aquarium in order to avoir being over runned by them. But, at the same time i want to make sure that my GSP'steeth don't grow to long.

Thank you S.

LOL, there will be no way a tank with even a single puffer would wind up overrun with snails!
Their teeth are still scraping at the mussel shell to get the meat out, keeping them trimmed.
What are your future plans on upgrading the 3 puffers?
You are getting sleepy... you only hear the sound of my voice... you must do water changes... water changes... water changes... water changes...
