Urgent questions about buying another puffer

Post by FailWhale »

Hello everyone, I have a 20 gallon tank with a single figure 8 puffer, and I was looking to purchase another figure 8 but the store I go to currently has green spotted puffers in stock, and no figure 8 puffers. As juveniles, would 20 gallons be enough for a figure 8 puffer and a green spotted puffer for around 8 months until I get a 30 gallon for the Green spotted and keep the figure 8 alone in the 20 gallon? I currently have my tank at low end brackish and I am raising it to medium-brackish. Originally i really wanted a green spotted puffer, but no stores had any in stock. Now since they do, I REALLY would love to have a green spotted puffer in the tank. I'm sure they wont be too territorial because i have a very large piece of driftwood dividing the tank. Also, I will purchase a tank divider and get the two puffers used to each others presence. I have an emergency 5 gallon tank I can use to separate the two puffers if things get out of hand. Would I be able to pull this off? Suggestions? Any advice is greatly appreciated! If you have any input please feel free to post! I've got plenty of food, a great tank, and i am willing to do frequent water changes If it means i could have a green spotted puffer in the tank. I LOVE green spotted puffers and I would do anything to have one in my tank! Thanks in advance!

Most definately not. They have totally different requirements and should not be housed together
It's amazing how easy maintenance is. If done regularly and thoroughly

F8s are great! Just enjoy the wonderful lil puffer you have now! When you have a larger tank set up for the GSP, then you can purchase one.
