GPS - Live sand & sand sifters

I've converted my 30g to marine, and added live sand. I've read that it's a good idea to keep sand sifters.

I'm wondering what kind of sand sifters would be able to hold up to a GSP?
Ned is currently 3 inches from head to tail, totally ignores the ghost shrimp I placed in there for food. I'd love to add a goby that burrows and hides under rocks but I'm concerned that Ned would harass it.

Do you have any recommendations of sand sifters that I could use?

Your tank really is fully stocked as far as bioload with the GSP as eventually, he'll grow into a 6" Nerf football. I'm sorry you didn't go a bit larger, you might have been able to try a few other fish with him. At this point, just keep the sand bed <1" & the creatures in the live sand will do the cleanup. When you clean his tank, you can skim over the sand with the siphon.

I might even go bare bottom tank for more water volume if I don't have a sump for a 30g.

Lots of great nitrifying bacteria lives in the substrate & it's a much more natural environment for the fish.

This is good to know. I'm aware that he'll out grow my tank, when that happens I will upgrade him to a 55g.

I'm fairly new with these guys and I noticed some odd behaviour.

I found need not moving, floating at the top of the tank by the heater. I was worried so I turned on the lights to take a look at him. He did a nose dive, landed in the sand, bounced a bit and then shook himself as if he'd just woken up. Then he was fine.

What do these guys look like when they sleep?
