Thank you for the help. I just bought the tetra safestart and I plan on putting it in my tank within a hour or 2. Is there anything else I need to know? It says cycles instantly but I tend not to believe that. Should I increase the temp in my tank (I hear this helps with the beneficial bacteria) and should I keep the lights on 24 hours (I hear this is also good for the bacteria)

Again I want to thank everyone for there help. and I just want to ask the professionals to make sure I am doing everything right

Do an 80% WC before adding the product & pour it directly into your filter.
I never heard anything about temp (78 is fine) or light.

Thanks for your help. I did water change and added the tetra safestart to the filter. I also added some rock work that I thought the puffer may like. If you want I can add pics later to see what you think. I am very thankful for the help because I couldnt do it without you guys

I decided to test the water again before I go to bed and these are the results








Now I dont think Im color blind but it is kind of hard for me to read especially the nitrate but also the ammonia a little bit also. I guess it dosent really matter considering I dont know what parameters would be good for my tank at this stage. I see the test results changed a bit from the first test so Im guessing thats good. Let me know what you think

I read that after adding the TSS people get large amounts of ammonia in there aquarium and have to do water changes daily until the ammonia goes down. There is no way my tank is fully cycled right?

For all intents and purposes yes, but techically it is not; you will have to keep an eye on ammonia lvls and wc whenever necessary. TSS does "instant" cycle - instan meaning a week or less. Considering cycling usually takes much longer and a lot more work, we consider it instant. Again keep in mind that it is still cycling, though much safer, and keep up with wc's until it's stable. Then you can do weekly wc's.

You need to add him immediately after the TSS. Other wise, the new, live bacteria will die & the TSS is a waste.

I see, so basically what I did was a complete waste or did it help a small amount maybe?

Well anyways considering you say I need to add the fish right after I add the TSS I will have the Fish shipped tomorrow so I get him Thursday and I will buy another bottle of TSS and put the puffer in the tank about 5 mins after I add it.


Before then should I do like a 20% water change or is that not even needed?
