advice on a Fahaka

Post by Pizzope »

Image I recently adopted this guy from a friend who had nothing more that a 20 gallon tank and didn't know any better. In the picture he is a 29 gallon but I am preparing 56 gallon that I was able to find for a good price on short notice. I am new to keeping puffers and I am wondering how long he could stay in a 56 gallon tank. I do plan on getting a much lager tank in near future. What kind of growth can I expect for this guy? I have named Fajuka.

How old is he? What size? They grow about an inch a month so you really are best putting them straight into their forever home to avoid stunting him. Realistically if he is more than 6 months old he should already be too much load for a tank that size. Welcome to the forum
It's amazing how easy maintenance is. If done regularly and thoroughly

He is about 3.5-4 inches, He was bought from the lfs no more than two weeks ago but not to sure exactly its age. I will be looking for it's new forever home to get that ASAP. If i can find one soon enough I'll skip the 56 gallon all together. Very glad I found this site, So much information. I didn't even know of freashwater puffers until a few months ago.
