You won't need any powerheads with this. Nice, neat look. Will you be filling & trying out the tank tonight with FW?

Any idea which would be best for the 90g if I decided to try something like that?

I want to, it'd certainly make things easier tomorrow. I don't know what the support is like underneath where it is sitting now though, granted it won't be there long won't have water added long either. But still

It would have to be full to be able to actually test everything, right?

Whats to happen with the 60 if you move everything to the 90? It would make a nice GSP tank. ;)

Yes, full & running quite some time, to discover leaks.

I have the 3/4" Seaswirl on my tank.

Haha, I have to admit that crossed my mind.

I mean it was what I got it for to begin with basically so it only makes sense, right? :D

I'm sure I'll set it up again sometime and probably not too far in the future. `I believe I'll wait a bit until I have a better idea of when I may be moving from where I'm living now. Hoping it'll be in the next year or so and one large tank will be enough work to break down and move.

I will have everything I need to get it up and running besides sand and rock basically. I'll have the skimmer, I have the T5HO fixture I could use, and do have the two powerheads I just switched from. Those I wouldn't want to run permanently, just hanging on to those for backup.

But yeah, its crossed my mind

I'll have to wait until we get the support taken care of and get the 90g in the 60g's spot before I'll be able to even fill it with fresh water. I don't know how the support is like underneath where it stands now. I did luck out with where I had placed the 60g, 90g's future spot, because of that brace. My brother in law said there wouldn't be many and I highly doubt I'd be able to place the tank where another brace would be. The brace is basically centered under where the 60g is/90g will be, so that eases my mind as well.

Unfortunately, not being able to test 90g setup until its moved into the 60g's spot makes things worse for moving everything over. The fish/corals/rock will have to be in the tubs until the 90g has ran for a bit before I can even begin to really get the 90g running as saltwater.

Depending on what the weather does here today, supposed to be getting snow, then the support will be taken care of. Once or while that is being done I'll begin moving everything out of the 60g so it can be moved for the 90g to go there. Then I'll be able to fill with tap water and let it run to watch for leaks and all. If this goes as planned today I should be getting the 90g filled with tap water around 3 or so. This isn't obviously overnight and a few other factors will come into play determining when I can get the 90g running as saltwater (after adequate time running with fresh). So if it begins running with freshwater around 3 or so, when would I be *safe* to empty and add the saltwater?

I don't want to rush it and want to give enough time to catch any problems. I'm just worried about the fish/corals that will be in the tubs during this time and want to minimize that length of time anyway I can. Unfortunately, this is the only way I can figure to go about this.

Did your seller use any type of glue for the plumbing?

I assume you have a strong pump to move all this water from tank to tank?

PP, why do you say you don't need powerheads? Curious, because if I could do away with mine, I would. I have a 75 gallon, drilled, with over flow box, with 20 gallon refugium underneath.

The Seaswirl covers the flow throughout the entire tank, all the way from corner to corner, top to bottom. I see everything moving.

Yes he did. I've got more here too, should anyway, where my boyfriend worked on some of the kitchen plumbing a couple weeks back.

I've got the 1200 pump I've used for pumping the water from the tub holding my new water into my 60g. The 90g is the same height so I don't see why there would be any issues.

Should be getting the support done in the next hour or so, getting ready to head to Lowes.

If I can get this 90g filled with freshwater this evening, what do I need to do differently with filling this tank up over my 60g (with the sump and all)? Afraid I may overlook something.

Also, the 90g was rinsed out but still has some white marks, I'm guessing from water or salt one. Could I run the tank with the freshwater added and like vinegar to help get it clean or could that harm something? Or anything else that may work better than vinegar?

What kind of clue did he use? You do realize that glue needs to dry for at least 24 hours before you can add water (look at the instructions on the container) or it can add toxins to your tank?

Can you just scrape off the white marks with a razor blade?

How many floor jacks are you buying? Is that part of the home over concrete or dirt?

The only thing used was some PVC Cement (just had to look at the container) and the curing time says 2 hours. It has been over 24 hours though, about 30hours or so by now.

I will have to pick up a razor blade, I'd say that should get if off but its going to be very difficult for me to reach some of it. Thought if something like vinegar would/could clear it up it'd be easy and would get to more of it then I can.

Not using floor jacks. There is a brace and I believe a beam under each end of where the tank sits, brace centered under the tank luckily enough. The brace is not a flat and it would be difficult to securing use a floor jack on just the brace, according to my brother-in-law. Doing a pier of cinderblocks on both ends is what I was told would be easier with the way it is underneath the home. He is bringing the cinder blocks and 2x4s. I'm going to Lowes to pick up cap blocks and wedges. No concrete, gravel and I'm sure dirt underneath that.

Also, just got off the phone with my brother-in-law and he won't be able to make it over to do the support until tomorrow. I'm going to go ahead and get what is needed. This will make things a little more difficult since I'll be back to work starting tomorrow but definitely not going forward until the support is finished.

Recent FTS of the 60g, been a little while since I had taken or posted one. Figure I should get a few since it'll be tore down here soon.

I began cleaning on the tank last night. The white, water stains I'm assuming, came off of the glass easily with a razor blade. The overflow is still showing white stains on it though, doesn't show when wet. I've been using vinegar but don't know what else to use that is safe and that would remove the stains. There are some white stains on the trim in a few spots proving difficult to remove as well. I got the outside of the glass wiped down too. Plan to get the background up soon.

Beginning of the clean up process.

Stepladder cause I'm short

I also got the tank filled, temporarily, to test for leaks and all. So far so good as far as leaks, haven't seen any. I definitely have a couple questions though.

The water going into the sump is loud, I believe this will be solved with some longer pipe and some live rock rubble underneath as mentioned earlier. Is this correct, or the only measure I can really take to lessen the noise?

Now the water return in the overflow is VERY loud. I do not know what to do to solve this problem. Not really sure how the plumbing in there works on top of it, which isn't helping me out.

Also, I think I got a handle on the water levels, after some error initially. But for peace of mind, how do I know that the water levels are correct? In both the sump and in the display tank (where it should come to in terms of the overflow)?

Edit: Forgot to mention I can't get any photos of the overflow and all at the moment (I'm sure this would help) because I'm at work. I can get some in a few hours though.

I feel for you. I had the guy who I got the tank from set it up. Got him a 12 pack of beer :) I wouldn't have had a clue.

There should be a small hole in the sump, up on the top, and you want to make a line below that, where your water should not go any higher than, when the pump is "off". Then you can draw a line to where the water line should not exceed with the pump "on". I'm sure I'm not explaining that well enough.

He offered and was really helpful, definitely appreciated all he did in terms of setting up the tank. Not to mention delivering it to me.

I don't believe there is any hole. I had read about marking water level on the sump. I'm not sure how full it needs to be or if its just the more water the better. Right now when I turn the pump off and the water drains back into the sump, I've still got quite a few inches of clearance. I had read that shutting off the power to the pump would be the same as a power outage (obviously no power to the pump) and would help in terms of preventing any flooding.

My issue still is with the noise from the overflow. If the overflow was staying more full then there wouldn't be much noise from the water flowing into it. But I wasn't sure if there is something to be adjusted to fix this or if its just adding more water. I'm afraid to fill it even more and have a flood on my hands.

My real problem is not know what should/does go on inside the overflow. This is leaving me pretty clueless on how to fix the issue.

Also, the support is done for the permanent placement of the 90g (where the 60g sets) :D

Now I'm just waiting for a good time as far as knowing I'll have the time needed to get things moved and switched over, not to mention getting things sorted with the overflow/sump. I'll need help moving the tanks, obviously, but will also need help keeping a toddler out of things

You know where the safe water level is in the sump so shut off the power and wait for the sump to fill, once the tank has done what it does top the sump up to a safe level and power up again. It's the only way I can think that would make sense. Looks like a nice tank, good purchase.
It's amazing how easy maintenance is. If done regularly and thoroughly
