GIANT MBU PUFFER TRANSPORTATION METHODS ???

Hi I am a proud guardian to a 2 foot long and broad as you like giant MBU puffer fish
I am moving from the south to the west of England about 5 hours in the car
((( HOW THE HELL AM I GONNA MOVE HIM/HER ??? )))
I have a few ideas but would like to here from anyone who has moved one of this size or bigger

If I were you, set up the tank & filtration 1st & then bring the fish over. How do you plan on having this tank cycled for this kind of bioload? Is the fish in your possession now?

Hi yes I have had him since a nipper
At present he is in a 700 ltr tank with a Eheim 2180 filter but he/she (Puffy)
Is out growing it rapidly my set up is spot on at mo with a 50% water change and gravel clean every two weeks Puffy also shares a tank with a few friends including a paradise thread Finn and as we know they are well sensitive
Moving to Devon a gonna be getting a 7ft long 1500 ltr tank adding another 2180 Eheim filter
I'm new to the forum and love my Mbu Dearly I have never known a fish with so much character puffy is so chilled its untrue and so patient and observant of his tank mates :0)

Hello fellow englander, love Devon go there every year lol. Be sure to check the floor in your new place can take the weight of a beastly tank before you fill it. Also prepare to up those waterchanges as the bio-load these guys put out is immense. I would recommend moving him in something like a scubabox with a drilled top. Insulate it and drive carefully. I also agree on the filtration. My fahaka tank ran 2 x eheim 2028, 2x eheim 2329, 2x eheim Ecco something's? Will look in a min and a (whisper) pain in the buttocks sunsun (1000 lph with uv). This was all fine tuned to get the flow just right for him, however I would have added more if it was my choice lol, or a big sump blah blah. I'm waffling. Basically you want 10x turnover per hour, and a much larger tank would suit better. I keep looking at those indoor ponds and that gets me thinking lol

Lol yeah I'm only guessing on the Ltrs tanks gonna be 7ft long and the width will be 4 half foot,
As for filtration the 2180 is good up to 1200 Ltrs and if two is not enough than a third would be purchased
Plus I'm in the tank with a net fishing out the high protein poo on a regular basis
Although when moving to Devon the water will be much softer so I must take that Also into account :0)

My new home is all about housing my fish and two savannah cats

Tank is two foot high at mo he/she only starts getting active when hungry so majority of the time he/she just sits there looking at me or the tv taking it all in with those beady eyes,
I can't wait to put him in a larger tank more for when he gets spooked
As for the floor I know all about this as I have a few bendy floor boards
Concrete floor is must in the new place lol :0)

I was gonna go with 3ft high double the price for a foot :0(
I feed mine every other day a half portion and then the next portion as much as puffy can eat
With a mixed diet
If I leave it longer puffy becomes not so chilled
I feed him from my fingers for half his dinner ,then he sits on the bottom waiting for me to drop it down to him

628 usg gross, 2444l gross. That is large enough for 4or more of those filters. I have several eheims in the loft which we could work something out on but that's a latter date chat. Also do not finger feed as he could easily whip your finger off. Trust me he may not mean to, I got savaged by my fahaka whilst hand feeding and once he got the taste of me it seemed I was fair game, he wanted to eat me whenever I got near the tank.

Iv had puffy from a babe he/ she bit me when a couple of years old mistaking my index finger for a prawn realised it was my finger and let go, wtf such a shock and what power at that age I have full respect of puffy but I handle on a regular basis he/she is totally not interested in me I can play with his lips lol I'm not the MBU whisperer but all animals have character and puffys is well chilled my tank is right next to where I sit and I work from home
Like most animals it's what you put in
But I would not advise anyone to play with a 2 foot long Mbu Puffers lips ;0)
