Yeah, I thought that only worn impellers were noisy, but the new whisper I put on was too noisy. Maybe just a bad one.
Right now I have a 204 on my 29 community with a 150gph powerhead on the UG. It seems to have a lot of current and stays nicely filtered.
I'm looking to put a filter on the 20g brackish that I'm setting up. It also has a 150gph powerhead. If I move the 204 to the 20, and get the highest bio-wheel I think it's 400gph. Sounds like that might cause too much current?
Maybe I should get a filstar. They're on sale ad Drfoster, but the XP1 seems to have a pretty small filter area and XP2 might be too powerful?
Quiet Filters
Id only go with a canister on a 20 long with a HOB with no power head. If you want the powerhead do not put the HOB on there or its going to be a whirlpool.

lol,
I didn't make myself very clear. I went back and read my posts and was confused myself.
So, I have a 20g BW and a 29g FW. Both have (and will continue to have) an UG filter run by a 150gph powerhead.
Right now the 29g has a Fluval 204 (which is very quiet).
I was looking for a quiet HOB for the 20g, but now am leaning towards moving the 204 to the 20g and getting the new filter for the 29 (It's in the living room, so doesn't need to be quiet)
Thinking of the 280gph or 400gph Biowheel, but not sure if I wanna go back from a canister.
I could also get a filstar XP3 for the 55g, move the fluval 304 to the 29g and the 204 to the 20g. But didn't really want to spend quite that much.
I could just get an XP1 for the 20g, but I've heard they're load? And they seem to have small volume?
Too many filter options.
