What else to keep with a porcupine puffer

If I do get this 125 going, what else could I keep with it. I plan on having a FOWLR set up, protein skimmer, sump, etc... The set up I can handle. It's the other inhabitants I'm sketchy on. Can I have a lawnmower or algae blenny to help w/algae control? How bout a yellow tang...I guess I need advice on other fish........

Also, I've been reading up on them, and some keep inverts with their porc puffers...they claim if you get it as a baby, always keep the inverts in with them, and feed them well, it's not a problem. Is this true? What bout soft corals? Like mushrooms, or polyps, etc.. Do they eat them too? Maybe some of you could list your inhabitants for me??? Thanks all....loco

An aquarist, and set up after my own heart.
I have been leaning away from a full reef set-up towards something similar (assuming I can get a porc here, and the rest of the plan gets off the ground)...I am interested to see what kind of responses you get, as I have had similar questions..

best answer i can give you on it is that i hate typing that much

and you should either call me or gimme a while to get it all together

there are quite a few favorable tankmates and inverts that do fine with porcs.

way too many for me to do off the cuff

Got an 8" porc in a 150 with a 12" engineer goby. I've got a few wimpy mushrooms and star polyps in there, too. I added the engineer goby because it was in with a yellow tang that was ripping all his fins off and biting holes in him. I didn't know if Porky would hurt him though I really hoped not. It was a case of nowhere else to go (he can't go in one of the reefs as he'd undermine the rock work, quarantine had new fish in it, and he can't go in with the 12" lionfish for obvious reasons and my other tanks are too small) so I took the chance. They mostly ignore each other. In fact Snaky Dude sometimes startles Porky. One happy little family of really cute fish. I was shocked to discover how mild a fish Porky is. I'd never put in a mobile invert with him though - he's murder on ghost shrimp, snails, crayfish, and crabs so they'd definitely be lunch inside a few minutes.

Some of my reefer friends keep their porcs in their reefs. At the coral swap a year and a half ago the guy hosting it had a 6" porc in a fully stocked reef. There were cleaner shrimp, clownfish, a mandarin dragonet, and a big naso tang. He had a full complement of corals - softies, LPS, and SPS. None of it seemed traumatized and the puff had been in the tank for more than a year.

I got 2 Skunk Cleaners, Peppermint Shrimp, 2 Nassarius, 2 Torchus, 5 little blue legged hermits, 5 Cerith Snails, 1 Clown Fish, Some Frogspawn, Zoos, Hammer Coral, and Candy Cane Coral with my Porky is... as long as you keep the Porky feed, he will sleep with those Invert without bothering them.... for the first couple of day, the Porky might interest and investigate what those thing are.. then he will get used to it.. Mine chase the Cleaners Shrimp into cave.. after 2 days.. those little Cleaners just climb on him and he don't bother it

That baby just in a 50G tank right now for a while.. just couple of month as he is just around 1" .. until the basement is done.. just looking at the basement wall that the wall curved in.. suppose to be a place for internal Shelf or huge Fireplace.. will use the space for 250g-400g tank for the Porky and GSP and some other fish.. Just notice how huge that place is.. Already start shopping for huge tank for the last couple of days
