My new GSP?
My new GSP?
So i bought this puffer from Petco, and like everyone know, the sales associate didn't really know anything. i was told it was a completely freshwater fish, which after a minute of research i found that was not true. As of right now i have it in my freshwater tank with a Emperor pleco and he seems very happy. I feed him blood worms daily and give him a snail or two every week. This is my first puffer fish but defiantly not my first fish tank. My puffer is only about an inch long, how long before i should start converting it to brackish?

Re: My new GSP?
You can't convert to brackish with those other fish. You will need to remove the other fish or put him in his own 30+ gallon tank. You will need to increase the salinity by only .002 per week. Make sure the tank is fully cycled before this or else you will just wind up crashing your entire tank and killing your GSP.
I'd recommend treating your GSP for IPs (internal parasites), too.

Thanks for the help, I'm going to keep him in the 20 gallon tank for a while and start converting it to brackish.
