He is beautiful! I got a betta a few months ago. He is dark blue and red. Told my husband I got him for our 3 1/2 yo son....but he was really for me ;)
And that was it! I had been bitten by the fish bug and got some puffers! :))
We need a bigger boat.

I've enjoyed keeping many bettas over the years. A local betta show breeder would sell his very healthy but slightly less than show quality specimens at a now-closed LFS, and I got some absolutely stunning fish that way. They're great little finned friends, fairly interactive and nice to have near the computer.

Warning: Don't feed bettas live worms if you ever intend for them to eat pellets again. Once they've had worms, that's IT (or maybe my bettas were just snobs).

That must be the problem with my GSP's right now . :? I feed them live earthworms as an occasional treat and they barely touch anything else unless I starve them for a couple days.
WARNING: Puffers are mischievous little blimps with enchanting powers. You may not be content with having just one.

Bettas are a riot. These are my three $0.97 Petsmart gals when they were in the 55g community tank. They loved digging through the java for those NLS micro pellets.

I just had to put down the purple/not red gal tonight. Over the past several months, age and poor genetics caught up to her.
There are many knowledgeable fish keepers on this forum willing to help and give great advice...The advice is free; What you choose to do with it gives it value.
