Black amano shrimp

Post by bertie 83 »

Has anyone seen one? Are they a subspecies? I have many amano shrimp and noticed one is black, same pattern of the cream stripe down his back but everything else is black. I have not bought him whilst he was this colour. He could be a hitch hiker I suppose. What do you guys make of this?
It's amazing how easy maintenance is. If done regularly and thoroughly

I have had 2 that turned black before and I sure they were not this colour when I bought them as I handpicked them. .. I noticed those 2 are both female.. I even seen one that have long pincers much like those of ghost shrimps. Probably a cross maybe..

This one is a male for sure. Smaller than the females and never carries eggs, well not that I have seen but in the tank they are in I rarely see them at all. The larger females are much braver and regularly search the open for food
