shells for Porcupine puffer?

Would these snail shells be safe for a Porc puffer to eat?

As of right now the snails in the tank is too big for him to eat. I wanted something hard for him to get a hold of and since there is not a fish store nearby where I can buy snails so I thought this could be a good substitute.

Puffers don't eat shells, they eat the meat.

I should have made my self more clear (Now that I read my post it sounds really dumb lol) . I feed it other meaty foods (shrimp, krill, mussel). I just wanted something hard for it to have so it can trim its teeth.

Mine is a picky eater and will not touch shelled food unless I mix it in with some rods reef. He trims his teeth on the live rock. I've watched him do this and have seen some of the aftermath as well (i.e. tiny chunks of live rock on the sandbed).

Hey guys porcupines dont have teeth like other puffers. they have two crushing plates, one at the top of their mouth and one at the bottom. Because of this theres no beak/teeth to trim.
