Since this board has been up, we have found there are several questions that routinely get asked in order to help diagnose problems. If you can have that information to begin with in your post, we'll be able to help right away (if we can!) without having to wait for you to post the info we need.
1) Your water parameters - pH, Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrates and salinity (if appropriate). This is by far the most important information you can provide! Do not answer this with "Fine" "Perfect" "ok", that tells us nothing. We need hard numbers.
2) Tank size and a list of ALL inhabitants. Include algae eaters, plecos, everything. We need to know what you have and how big the tank is.
3) Feeding, water change schedule and a list of all products you are using or have added to the tank (examples: Cycle, Amquel, salt, etc)
4) What changes you've made in the tank in the last week or so. Sometimes its the little things that make all the difference.
5) How long the aquarium has been set up, and how did you cycle it? If you don't know what cycling is read this: Fishless Cycling Article and familiarize yourself with all the information. Yes. All of it.
We want to help, and providing this information will go a LONG way to getting a diagnosis and hopeful cure that much faster.
While you wait for assistance:
One of the easiest and best ways to help your fish feel better is clean water! If you are already on a regular water change schedule (50% weekly is recommended) a good step to making your fish more comfortable while waiting for diagnosis/suggestions is to do a large water change immediately. Feel free to repeat daily or as often as you can, clean water is always a good thing! Use of Amquel or Prime as a dechlor may help with any ammonia or nitrite issues, and is highly recommended.
Note - if you do not normally do large water changes, doing a sudden, large water change could shock your fish by suddenly changing their established water chemistry. Clean water is still your first goal, so in this case, do several smaller (10%) water changes over the next day or two before starting any large ones.

??? what it is now ???
querry ??? ok i got a figure 8 puffer .... he was really sick .... tank was active and cycled before he arrived.... he had ick really bad .... as well as a secondary infections .... and parasites .... so .... water levels are all good .... brackish tank .... marine salts ...hydrometer is rite on .... we got the ick turned around and gone ... his heater is at 82 to prevent the re ick .... his clouded over eyes completely clear ....fuzz that was all over him is gone .... treated the parasites with garlic drops ...all good .... BUT >>> he has continually had what looks like grey patches .... discouniued the ick meds (they did seem to be helping the grey patches but it is hard to say ).... kept treating with melafix .... but with no results (grey patches) .... he has been quite the picky eater .... fresh clams and krill .... he like clams best when you point at them .... oh he is in a 10 gallon tank previously the only fish till yesterday .... the tank was active and cyclying when he moved in .... after the ick meds .... changed out his filter with the friend who talked me into adding him to the zoo .... she has 3 puffers all doing very well .... like ravenous dog pack .... anyways .... he seemed to quit eating a couple days ago .... yesterday i was tired of trying to figure it out ... cupped him (not netted) into a glass jar and took him to the lfs .... and they said he was doing well .... besides the seconary infection .... they told me to add tetracycline .... which i did .... which was apearently wrong .... cause he hid under his log all night and is still pissed off at me today .... i think its kind of funny how fish hold a grudge for a couple of days .... SO ..... i did a 30% water change today .... to cut down the tetracycline .... cause he defineately did not appreciate that .... i tried and tried to get a pic of it .... but no luck .... it looks yellowish in the photo .... and you cant tell its not a natural pattern .... it also yellowed a little with the tetracycline .... ??? what to do next ??? im going to try the pimafix added to the melafix today ..... discontinue the tetracycline ??? or half dose it and make him suck it up a few days ??? any input would be appreciated ....oh also i figured he might like .... or not like other fish eating his clam ..... so i got him 3 bumblebee gobies ....as tankmates ... aslo to help with the cleanup ....and inspire him to eat his food without me standing there pointing at it .... ??? hes still pissed off about the roadtrip .... which im sure he will get over ....... PLEASE RESPOND >>>>> cause lil ocho ...... needs to kick this so we can all be happy >>> ALSO its my birthday .... and it would be super nice

Re: ??? what it is now ???
I've never seen someone post like this. Very difficult to follow.
My guess is all the meds you are using on that fish. No meds necessary for treating ich:

I'd also like to hear what your answers are to the questions above, in red.

You are getting sleepy... you only hear the sound of my voice... you must do water changes... water changes... water changes... water changes...

Re: ??? what it is now ???
1. water parameters ... i have a five test strip nitrite Gh 90-120 , KH 60 -80 , PH 6.5 - 7 , NO2 - 0 , NO3 - 0 ..... regretfully i ran out of amonia strips ...salinity is at 1.005 (instant ocean )
2.tank size ... 10 gallons , he was the only inhabitant ... until yesterday which i added 3 bumblebee gobies (to help clean up )
3. thawed clam every morning (every other day treated with garlic drops) , krill in the evening , he never finishes a clam just like to give him a variety. i do remove the clam and net up the uneaten krill and food bits
4. he was very sick when i got him , white dots , light fuzzy patches , swollen foggy eyes, mishaped stomach, i then bought api ick cure , he didnt respond after a week , i returned to my lfs they recommended rid ick for fresh and salt water , i then read the forum about salt water , i gradually increased his salinity with sea salt .... im sorry this has been going on for a month now .... so that was all going good but his ick didnt go away , i read in the forum ick couldnt live over 82 ... so i got him a heater , the ick still didnt go away , so i started with the new ick treatment ... which kills both fresh and salt water ick . he improved daily till the ick was gone , he also had some secondary problems , eyepop and some fuzzy white stuff also dissapeared , i discontinued using it two weeks ago ... he still had some grey patches but other than that he looks better than he ever did , over the last week the patches were getting larger and he slowed down his already picky eating .... i began melafix when i discontinued his ick meds ... for the grey spots , so as far this last week no changes to his treatment until yesterday ... i finally got tired of treating him for unknown grey spots , put him in a jar and took him to the lfs ... they told me he had an infection probably from being bitten at the fish store by other puffers , they recommended i use tetracycline to treat the infection ... i added the tetracycline last night ... he didnt like it and hid under his log all night , i did not add any today .... i changed out 50% which i never do but i wanted to get as much of the tetracycline out of the water as possible . i read in the forum about pimafix used with melafix ... i got the pimafix today but i havent added it yet , ??? what to do now ??? cause i didnt want to make things worse ...
5.the aquarium was my goldfish tank and has been going for 2 years with no troubles , i cleaned it probably too good before he moved in .... and then was told that the ick meds may have damaged the biofilter ... so i replaced it with one from my friends tank who has 3 puffers in great shape ....
6.added info- water changes with the ick meds was 25% every 48 hrs ... even though it says on the melafix bottle to dose 5ml daily for 7 days then change the 25% .... i have been keeping the 48 hr change .... because i was afraid of amonia and nitrites and clam parts/and what not cant be good
7. whatever grey spots that are on him are literally eating him alive ... they look almost like a week old cigarette burn like tissue is missing but still the same color .... like the lfs guy said bite marks maybe ???
8. ive been through alot with this little guy ... i would like to cure his last issue ... and return to wed. night water changes .... cause dang ive had my hands full
2.tank size ... 10 gallons , he was the only inhabitant ... until yesterday which i added 3 bumblebee gobies (to help clean up )

Does your camera have a "macro" or "close up" setting. Sometimes it is a little flower or head and shoulders icon.James Kelly wrote:i tried and tried to get a pic of it .... but no luck
I tried Maracyn or Maracyn 2 once for a columnaris outbreak in QT for some new arrivals. But columnaris spreads and kills extremely fast. But I understand that one of those two products are great for secondary infections, which you may have. Maybe somebody will chime in with some experience. As I recall those meds aren't cheap.
I would also avoid contact with any healthy fish as your F8 might be contagious. You might reconsider the BBGs in the 10g...One or two nerite snails may be a better "clean up" choice. Any chance of a larger tank?
Good luck, hope he gets better.
There are many knowledgeable fish keepers on this forum willing to help and give great advice...The advice is free; What you choose to do with it gives it value.

Re: ??? what it is now ???
i dont know what else to do at this point ... im extremely frustrated , thank you terrance i had not posted in here because the little guy kept getting better and better , the ick , internal parasites, the popeye , body fuzz , even the grey patches looked better at one point , but the grey patches have almost doubled in size this week . im so frustrated he is such a cool fish . i did try the macro on the camera , i did get some clear pics of him ... but the spots look yellow in the photos , i do believe that it is the result of the tetracycline and you cant tell it from his pattern , i cant anyway . i think the tetracycline poisoned him somehow ??? im going to wait until tomarrow and start the pimafix / melafix combo ... i should have never used the tetracycline ... i hope he makes it
