does anyone keep a cat that never goes outside?

IMO cats should be left inside or let outside with supervision. This doesn't apply to cats like barn cats that have a job outside but your basic pet cats. I think it's irresponsible to let your cat loose outside, not only for the cat but wildlife as well.

The first one we adopted two years ago. She belonged to a neighbor who died unexpectedly. Her family did not bother to find a new home for her or take her to a shelter but kicked her outside during what was a very cold and snowy winter.

I was contracted some work at a cemetery two years ago around this time of year. I was doing some work in their sales office so I worked at nights and on the weekend. There was this sweet little cat that would great me every night and I gave him some of my sandwich on the first, then I'd leave him cat food after that. One night I noticed that he was nuetered and didn't have claws. This combined with the fact that is was starting to get cold I decided to eventually take him home. I didn't really want to keep him but I was gonna find him a good home...And I did.

I walked out to my work truck one day to find this. That was the day he came home.

I talked to my buddy, the sales manager at the cemetery, and he told me that when old people with pets die, the family dumps their pets by the grave all the time. This explains why this kittay was altered and declawed, and why he enjoyed and actually craved being indoors.

JRC3, how sad that some pets are abandoned that way. I can understand people not wanting something else to deal with in their grief, but it doesn't take much time to call a shelter or two and ask if they can take an animal. I'm glad you were able to find a home for the cat. : )

i have a cat like to look at my puffer ...with me ~

One of my cats likes to look at our puffers. She stands right next to the tank and the fish hover near her and stare back. My other cat does not care for them. In fact I think he is kind of scared of them. He was also afraid of the ghost shrimp that came home last week.
