SAP carries rock around is it normal?
SAP carries rock around is it normal?
One of my 3 SAPs has taken to carrying a rock around in his mouth, when I first saw it I was worried because I thought it was stuck but after a while he spat it out, I've noticed him (always the same guy) with rocks a few times since then. Is this normal? His belly looks nice and full after feeding. He seem happy spends lots of time poking around in the plants. Is rock carrying a sign of anything?

I have a GSP who likes to injest sand. I constantly see him burping large quantities of sand and he leaves a trail of particles as he swims around.

Do his teeth look overgrown at all? SAPs are the worst species for requiring dentistry.

His teeth were my first worry when I noticed him carrying the rocks around, the teeth don't look apparent, and he's eating well, it should be pretty visible when they need a clip right?
Right now we're feeding bloodworms and snails. I found some Malaysian trumpet snails in my snail tank, if I crush the shells first is it okay to give it to my little guys, while I wait for the other snails to populate?
With wild puffers I've occasionally seen them carry rocks but it's like they are tasting the rocks- suck them in then spit them out again right away. It's like this little dude is taking his pet rock for a walk he swims around for 5 minutes with it in the mouth then puts it back.

Bunny, Your SAPs can eat crabs?
I do know MTs' shells are too tough for puffer's teeth but if you crush them, I think they should be OK to eat.

No cooked food for fish. I still can't see a puffer as small as a SAP biting thru these.

Freeze, to kill off the nasties. Do not cook.

At least 48hours frozen if my memory serves me correctly
It's amazing how easy maintenance is. If done regularly and thoroughly

Not likely especially if it is well below 0 degrees.
