Hex tank vs rectangular tank
Just curious? I have my gsp in a 30 gallon rectangular tank now but have a chance to buy a 65 gallon hex tank! Would I be better off upgrading to a rectangular shape tank or will my gsp like a hex tank???

Go rectangle, more swimming room
It's amazing how easy maintenance is. If done regularly and thoroughly

+1, hex usually go up more then go out, rectangular will have more side-to-side swimming room, which is more important for a puffer then up-and-down swimming room.

Re: Hex tank vs rectangular tank
I never liked hex tanks. Too tall and awkward for placement in terms of location and equipment. Chances are your puffer will glass surf A LOT due to the lack of horizontal swimming space.
WARNING: Puffers are mischievous little blimps with enchanting powers. You may not be content with having just one.

Re: Hex tank vs rectangular tank
IME hex tanks work better for smallish fish. Most of them are tall in relation to their width, which is a disadvantage for large fish - not enough swimming room. I have never liked any fish longer than the width of a single panel in a hex.

I do have a 10g hex for my DPs. There is a huge anubias plant going up the middle. They seem to like swimming in & out of it.
