so over the past 2 weeks my female, who has also became alot more shy and submissive has started to shin down and even her color is dull.... she keeps to her favorite plant in the corner. she is just not her old rounded self. she is not sunken in at all! but i have noticed she hasnt been eating as much lately either.. i think tomorrow im going to pick up some more IP treatment and give that a go... the Male looks wonderful very round all the time... out and about.. exploring. always colored up. and always eats his share and then some.... all water parameters are in check and tested weekly... and i do two 30% water changes a week... they eat a variety of frozen foods and have lots of plant cover....
any other thoughts other them IP form who knows what source...
any other info i may of forgot just ask...
she has always been so plump and active... and no they have not breed at all... Blah not sure what to do...
i have had then for over 4 months now and i haven't changed anything...

Re: Female red tail red eye getting skinny
What about the teeth? Are they overgrown? I had to cut the teeth of a few C. irrubesco in the past, because they could not eat properly any more. It was hard to see at this species, but the teeth were much too long and the problem was solved by cutting of the teeth.

Give a man a fish, and he'll eat for a day. Give a fish a man, and he'll eat for weeks.

alright so...
1)water parameters - pH 7.6, Ammonia 0, Nitrite 0, Nitrates 15-20 (all in ppm)
2) Tank size and a list of ALL inhabitants. 26 gallon bowfront, male and female red tail red eyes, and 2 lone ghost shrimp... and maybe an excaped pest snail....
3) Feeding, water change schedule and a list of all products you are using or have added to the tank: 2 water changes a week both about 25 to 30 %,i use root tab every 2 months, and flurish fertilizer, and APT water conditiioner with each water change, they are feed each night until well rounded (brine shrimp, krill, glass worns, blood worms and ghost shrimp after QT and of course pond snails once a week( 4 or 5 dumped into the tank)
4) What changes you've made in the tank in the last week or so.. nothing has changed all the same conditioners and food and temp always stays very steady at 78*F
5) How long the aquarium has been set up, and how did you cycle it? this specific tank has been set up sence the beginning of july, i didnt have to cycle because i was able to use all there old filter material and kept everything form there old tank. and the water parameters where checked twice daily and absolutley none of the levels varied at all...
so anyways i did my first ever teeth trim today and oh did i have a crowd... everyone in my house watched haha... well i was a little nervous so i really only got the bottom good, cuz i was afraid to leave them out too long... but both are swimming around now (very nervous and hiding) but active... so maybe in a week ill tackle the tops... you could just see the smallest tip of there bottom teeth when there mouths were relaxed so that is now gone and i guess i get to see how the female eats tonight!!!
oh yah so at the pharmacy: trying to explain what i need i had all the ladys behind the corner stairing at my like i was crazy when i asked if they could order me some red cross teeth aide so i could trim the puffers teeth... haha i think i may of made there day... when they called me today the lady left me a message that my Eugenol was in, "Miss rlhirth your eugenol is in for your ummmmmm fish teeth trimming." hahahaha
but anyways ill keep ya posted...

Fingers crossed
It is absurd to talk of one animal being higher than another. We consider those, when the cerebral structure/intellectual faculties most developed, as highest. A bee doubtless would when the instincts were.
