F8 Puffer experience

Post by EvilAsh »

I checked out my LFS that I usually go to get my stock and asked if they would be getting any F8's. They said they would in a few weeks. So I went in after a few weeks and I saw the small sectioned off tank that they keep the F8's in (with Plecos). All were dead. All 6 of them. When I asked if they would be getting any more the clerk said "We have plenty in the tank". I gave him the bad news and he scooped them out. I was impatient on getting one so I called around and got a hold of another store. He said he had some and he keeps them in brackish. When I got there the store was so much larger and cleaner. Each fish was also kept in a very large tank and looked healthy. I found the F8's and he had a bunch of happy ones. They all followed me as I walked past the tank. I picked one up and have had him for about 2 weeks now. He's very happy and healthy. I visited the store that had the dead ones today and I checked out the tank. They had 5 and they all looked near death. All had white spots & tore fins, and most didn't even want to move. I felt so bad for them. At least I found a new store out of this experience.

So glad you didn't have to support that crap store! It sounds like you will have a long-lived friendship with your puffer.
