A Few Questions.

Given:

1. I am spoiled rotten, self-indulgent to an extreme.

2. I am unbelievably lazy.

3. If I cannot do it "right" (my own definitions), I do not do it at all.

Therefore:

1. I size my partials by the equipment I can fit into the system.

2. Three 20% serial partials is roughly equivalent to one 50% partial. Also two 30% partials are a bit more than one 50% partial.

3. In actual operation of such systems, if I do 3 serial 20% partials MWF or TuThSa, or 2 seial 30% partials (commonly TuTh) I have done my weekly 50% partial - or a bit over. Note: The system changed is TC (to contain); water volumes drained or refilled are TD (to deliver).

Yes, it all sounds and is in fact a bit complex in set-up. In operation it is basically mindless. Even relatively unscientific fish-sitters can operate these systems after being shown how they operate once or twice. I have always been willing to do extra work once - at set-up - to be able to operate easily for years. All of my set-ups are set for a minimum ten-year life.

4. I can always "fit" a vessel delivering 20% of operating volume into a system. If I can set for 30%, it is better. If I can set for 50% in one operation it is ideal, and simple but a bit wasterful in total volume and equipment and space used.

5. Actual process: A: Drain 20% from the system. B: Shut of reservoir internal circulation & heating if requid; start delivery pump 20% replacement into the system, shut off delivery pump. C: Refill reservoir to 20% level. D: set recirculation internal pump to hold reservoir at temp and O2 level for next 48 hrs.

It is possible to set for 10% daily changes and approximates 50% weekly changes, but to me that requires full automation. That is non-trivially more expensive and more demanding om the set-up. I have done it, but it does require an engineer's eye and skills for smooth and safe operation.

At the sake of making new thread as I noticed junk/off topic is discouraged, I have one last question.

Is there a problem with trapdoor snails, why don't I see them recommended more often?
I have access to bulk mystery snails, should I just do those?I kind of wanted a quick turnaround from the trapdoors.Can they live together, seeing as the mysteries lay eggs out of range of the hungry trapdoors?
I'd like to breed them with less containers.I am already going to grab mysteries, already going to breed them in numbers, so I guess this would be mostly about trapdoors...
Oh, I would have searched, but we know where that gets you, (will donate when not BROKE!), and google only grabs the words you searched, with no orderly relevance.

Breeding live food is best one species at a time. More than one species means that one will out-compete the other plus the situation is highly unlikely to be optimum for either. In other words, co-culturing is rarely if ever other than short-term effective. Why would anyone waste their time doing this?

Plus, this is off-topic for the thread. Perhaps the whole thread is a mistake, as it specifies no topic, but a grab bag. It should be a separate thread or threads for each topic. I seem to post either a short or a long note on this every week if not more often. Separate topics should be in separate threads. I am in danger of burning out on repetitions. In the future I will not respond to multiple topics in one grab bag - those could not ever we readily searched even if the system and site were fully functional.

I am sorry to be such a grump, but I do not have unlimited time and energy, nor does everyone else. If you do not have the time to create a thread for each concept you wish to see discussed, I do not have the time or energy to try to help.
