I have seen it twice now in the past couple days. When it happens once he is all done he just goes back to his normal energetic self, so he doesn't seem too phased. Maybe he is just stretching

Yeah, I believe that porcupine just seem to puff up pretty regular compare to other species. Mine did and so did alot of other porcupine owners mentioned their doing the same.

From what I understand young puffers will puff up for practice, I've caught my late GSP do it for no reason a dozen times.
