Can Puffer fish comm with Arowana & Stingrays

Post by CrossRiver »

Hi, need expert advice.

Can I comm my Cross River Puffer (size 10") with Arowana (Size : 16") and Stingrays - 4 pcs (sizes from 8" to 16") ?

My Arowana is very tame and does not attack any tankmate.

Tank size : 6ft x 3ft x 2.5ft with sump size : 5ft x 2ft x 2ft (full of media) and additional FX5 Pond filter, Laguna Pond filter and Ehiem 2260.

The puffer would likely eat the stingrays eyes so that's a no go. Arrowanas get massive so would require a larger tank, your puffer could easily kill the arrow too so best to keep them separate IMO
It's amazing how easy maintenance is. If done regularly and thoroughly

All three of those should be in species only tanks.

Your rays well breed better. The arows will not have droop eye in their old age, and the puffer will not kill its tank mates.

But dang if I could house that combo. Rays, arows and a cross river, that is a dream come true. "over here is my ray tank... these are my arowanas, and this gem is my cross river puffer"... That's 1000's of dollars in stock and should be treated as such. Please don't mix and match.

I would actually worry about the string ray trying to eat the puffer. My motoro would eat anything it landed on.

My puffer is 10" long and fat, unlikely the Stingray can eat. I worry the Puffer may attack the stingray eyes.

You would likely end up with just a puffer, possibly some bones of some sort

It dont take expert's to tell that a 10" Cross River puffer, stingrays, and arowanas will not mix happy.
