I wound up with a Figure 8.

Well I found a Petco that sold some ghost shrimp and I got a few for my GSP's to hunt down since it has been a while since they worked for their food and I figured they deserved a treat after the big move. Anyways long story short I came across a single 1.5 inch figure 8 living in one of the tanks with a bunch of african cichlids. They said he was a mis-ship and they do not normally carry them. The poor guy is pinched (likely from a combo of malnourishment and IP's) and half of his tail is missing. I hope I made a good choice as I knew he would not last much longer living in that freshwater tank with those cichlids so I made an offer and got him for a couple bucks. He is currently living in my 10G QT tank and is in 1.004 salinity. He is EXTREMELY active swimming back and forth while also pacing the glass but he has not eaten anything offered to him yet. Hopefully this little guy can be saved.

Nice to hear you rescued him! Thats one thing that bugs me a little about this hobby. Most of the people at those large chain pet stores know absolutely nothing about fish. The fins should grow back.

What have you tried feeding him?

Well I managed to get him to eat some bloodworms and beefheart treated with Vitachem. I have ran into a couple problems as the crazy walmart around here did not have any of the jungle parasite clear tablets and the LFS exterminates their snails with some kind of treatment for their tanks.

Walmart usually restocks pretty often. Could you order the medicine through your LFS?

amazon or ebay are other options, just got to wait for shipping. For snails you could try asking posting on craigslist.

Thought I should update this thread, the Figure 8 is still alive and well and is living in a 20G aquarium by himself.
