I do follow PP's net technique, but I only very rarely do any substrate changes. I also run a diatom filter while doing so (the impellers there are well shielded).

Fish in or fish out depends on the fish.

yeah i just changed out a little more gravel this morning. the net technique worked great as well as the soda bottle technique and it worked flawlessly, thanks kcartwright856! what cloudiness there is is very minimal and will be cleared up in 15 or 20 min. i went fish in and it doesn't seem to be bothering them much at all, just the fact that a giant hand was all up in their business :)
