Palembang Puffer Fish

Now I have planing to buy a Fahaka Puffer fish, but many of my friends say that fahaka often death suddenly. I don't know why it happened so.
Any suggestion?

In the past I do believe there are "sudden death". But, after some time ( quite a while actually.. ) when I learn more and become more experience, "Sudden Death" starts to have different meanings like ie. uncycled, poor maintenance, poor feeding, swimming in own waste, wrong tank size etc and the list just goes on.. USUALLY, they are caused by inexperience keeper with wrong info or failing to identify symptoms. Of course occasionally there will be some that do come with some nasties that do not show initially but hardly, "Sudden death".

Btw, my lfs sells Black river sand as well. It looks/feels more like crushed glass or something similar. The owner told me not to buy as "she said", they will leak some kind of chemical into the water unless rinsed many many many times. True or not, I decided to give that a miss.. And imo, the humpback is dark enough.. adding darker substrate will make them adopt a even darker colour. Spotting them could be quite challenging..

hmm, so I am going to learn first how to take care fahaka, then I'll buy it.
Actually, my friends say their fahaka death suddenly is caused by electricity down in their homes, so that the all aquarium equipment like a aerator and filter flow also shut down.
Maybe i have conclusion that fahaka very weak against the lack of oxygen.

Ah.. Power outage is another nightmare... I have only encounter once. After moving in my house for 4yrs and my family were all away on a few days trip. And it happened... Bad things always have to happen at a most darnest time for me.. Fortunately there were no casualty at all. I think bigger tank with a bigger surface helps a little for air exchange during power outages..

What is the reason puffer fish puffed up in the water? He stressed?

Can be that, depends on how your water parameters are. Since your puffer is young it may have just been a test puff.
