Bye bye betta
For those who don't know or might have forgot, my betta was sick a while back, I say mine he was my wife's. He came on leaps and bounds in solitary so much so, I thought about releasing him back to his previous home with his mates. Any how my wife went to feed him his bloodworm tonight, by hand of course- she has always handed him worms from her fingers. She came out with tears in her eyes wanting me to help him. He was laid on his side gasping, totally screwed. Enough is enough, overdose of clove oil. I couldn't fix him.he was old, I am not too sad he had a great time all the bloodworm he could eat. My wife is sad, he was her fish, he won't be replaced now or possibly ever. Goodbye friend. Such a personable fish, he would swim into her hands lol
It's amazing how easy maintenance is. If done regularly and thoroughly

We had him bout 3 years. He was full grown when we purchased him so who knows. Like I say I am not sad he had a great life being spoilt by my wife lol. I just feel it right to pay respect to her best mate fish thing.

Rest in peace, little fellow. Your wife did an amazing job taking care of, spoiling, and giving him a wonderful life.
I'm sure he'll never be truly replaced, but perhaps someday she'll be ready to save another betta from a "life" in a bowl and fall in love with him all the same.

Maybe when we move, she seems a lot better today, the shock of me hooking her mate out the tank and killing it was a bit much. He was on borrowed time for a while so there we go. Lifespan is difficult to say. Mine was full grown when we got him so he did real good

It is absurd to talk of one animal being higher than another. We consider those, when the cerebral structure/intellectual faculties most developed, as highest. A bee doubtless would when the instincts were.

After an unscheduled stop at a shop I realised my wife wants a new one. Walked away with 4 amano shrimp to increase the population in with the rasporas. A new fighter may be in the near future so I can wave goodbye to my tank plans grrr.
