Re: Arrowhead puffing up
Awesome!!! Never seen an arrowhead puff up before. Only puffers that I ever see puff up in person, was my stars and stripes and a porcupine puffer I once owned.

The woods would be very silent if no birds sang there except those that sang the best. Use the talents you possess.

Thanks
I dont think puffing up caused him to get sick. It is natural for puffers to do this, some just do it more then others. I have seen afew of my marine puffers puff up for no reason that I could tell. But never seen any of my FW or BW puffer's puff up but did not mean they did not do it when I was away though. So, I hope your Arrowhead is doing better though.

Re: Arrowhead puffing up
I have seen the arrowhead inhale some water before and inflate like on 0:00 on the video, but this was full on stressed out puffing.

F2b he was constantly puffing, we believe the stress of this let things get ontop of him.

Re: Arrowhead puffing up
Its looking much better the last few days. I have used the bottle of malafix now. The area around the gill is still abit white but all the redness has gone and the skin is looking much better. Should i get more malafix and keep treating or can i over do it? Should i just carrie on as i was before and do some extra water changes for a few weeks?bertie 83 wrote:F2b he was constantly puffing, we believe the stress of this let things get ontop of him.

Re: Arrowhead puffing up
Keep up the extra chances, they certainly won't hurt. You probably dont need mel anymore but I would personally keep adding it for a bit longer, it certainly won't hurt. Glad he is on the mend, it sucks when they are not 100%

Re: Arrowhead puffing up
Sounds like his immume system might be down abit. Try soaking some freeze-dried krill in some good liquid muti vitamins. Yes, I mentioned feeding krill to a puffer...lol. BUT it soaks up liquid meds and muti vitamins extremely well and wont hurt every now and then.
Btw, I must had missed that your puffer was puffing up constant. Yeah, now something would be wrong there and I dont believe it was caused by the sand on his back since he lives most of his life buried in the sand, imo. It has to be something else causing it. Like what Bernie mentioned, WC's should help if it is caused by the water but the water should be tested to determine. Or he was getting sick before he started puffing up to get relief, imo.
