Re: Tank cycling
U are suppose to just replace the salt that U have removed. ie, 50% wc, top off with 1 tbsp. Not 2tbsp every wc for the 10g tank unless U are changing out all the water.. It wouldn't hurt the fish but it would be wise to maintain that salt concentration. Maintaining the temperature is key as well. Btw, the hydrometer is not going to measure anything for now with that very low salt concentration.

I forgot it was a 10g.
It's amazing how easy maintenance is. If done regularly and thoroughly

No thankfully the white spots are gone from my GSP body. I am still keeping up with the treatment for another week since I still need to kill of the parasite spores. My tank temp has been at 85F for about a week and a half.

Treat him for 2 weeks after the last spot is gone. The parasite is still living, even when it's not visible.

Re: Tank cycling
I feed my GSP some shrimp, like I always do and he threw it up. After he threw it up he ate it back up again. Is this a sign of parasites or anything i should be aware of?

Wouldn't think so. Sometimes fish just throw up. He may be a little stressed.

Re: Tank cycling
You guys know about feeding a GSP live food? I got two live ghost shrimp at the store and I wanted to know if you guys treat shrimp, snails or any other live foods with medication before feeding you're GSP? I wouldn't want to re introduce ICK into the tank by way of live food.

You need to quarantine them and feed them well before feeding

Re: Tank cycling
Do I quarantine them with anti parasite medication? How long does the quarantine last?

Re: Tank cycling
No need for meds. You just need to put them in a clean tank, and of course do water changes. The minimum you should quarantine them is 10 days, but 20+ is better.

Re: Tank cycling
I think its just better to feed the puffer non-living foods. I just want to feed him, I don't want another living thing in the tank.

Re: Tank cycling
Feeding live foods is good for them as they get to hunt. A hospital tank can be used for quarantine, if you quarantine the hospital tank has no other use really lol

You have to feed things like snails, which are live.
