Lol.. I have ever "rescued" a fish from a lfs but died on me a few days later. But when I went back to the same store, same tank, same fishes, they looked as happy as ever though they are not in a not so ideal environment..

same thing happened to me. Fish looked happy and healthy in a crappy walmart tank. I took it home and got it into a proper living space and it instantly got deathly ill and died a few weeks later.

that is why my girlfriends GSP is still in fresh water. It would crush her if I started telling her to bring her aquarium up to full marine and it killed her fish like it did mine. I will start upping the salinity after a few months of successful ownership of a healthy fish.

sometimes when a fish is in poor conditions for an extended time, putting them in better conditions can cause more harm than good. in those cases it would be best to do smaller partials over a short period of time

I just do not like it when aquarium shops over load and take little care to decorate and properly equip a tank for so many fish. IMHO it shows that they are only out to make a buck and have little concern for the quality of life of the animals in their care and that to me shows a lack of professionalism. It goes back to the old saying "Lead by Example". Especially for individuals new to the aquarium hobby as the store they get the fish from will usually provide a visual aid as to what they hope to establish for their home aquariums and if the LFS is a bad example it only perpetuates the problems surrounding bad fish keepers and the consequence of many dead fish.

This is at one of the lfs here. I dun buy fish from them anymore. just equipments.

The poor ceylon can only turn on the spot.. Its roughly ard 5in long, tank is ard 5in cube too.. no aeration, no filter, no substrate, FW, suffering from all kind of possible diseases...

Imagine us living in a telephone booth...
