Hey there,
I recently bought 2 black clown gobies and 1 yellow clown gobie for my SW tank. I misread the Liveaquaria factoid sheet before I bought them and therefore misunderstood it. I thought that you could have more than one, that they liked groups. I now know that you should only have more than one if they are a mated pair, just make sure the tank is big enough. I didn't think that they were mated, but now after observing them for a few days, it seems that the yellow clown and the smaller black clown are attached at the hip: they swim together, eat together and rest together. I am assuming that this is possible, and colors of the gobies do not matter, but my question is, how do I know for sure if they are mated? Just asking for my personal benefit, not interested in breeding at all. Thanks for you input! =D

Mine bred like crazy, until the male jumped. She laid eggs on the underside of my Orange monticap shelf & he took care of them.
You are getting sleepy... you only hear the sound of my voice... you must do water changes... water changes... water changes... water changes...

Sounds like love! Mine bred like crazy, until the male jumped. She laid eggs on the underside of my Orange monticap shelf & he took care of them. I have about 6 different ones in my 90g. They all get along. The pair were Citron clowns.

Don't get me wrong--if I liked the taste of fish, I'd eat them.

Haha, omg you guys. Now I am laughing at work and people are looking at me like I am crazy.
I wonder which is the female and which one is the male......hmm. Well, I just know that the bigger black clown hangs out all by him (her?) self and established his territory in the left corner of the tank, and the two smaller ones hang out in another plant in the right corner of the tank. The smaller black clown is looking much much better now, and the little yellow clown is super brave. The pictures of the do not do them justice-- they are unbelievably cute.
Also, I am going to start looking into getting a bigger tank, and one that is already plumbed. Going to be a while yet, since I have to find a really good deal on it, but I am definitely replacing my substrate. Still kicking myself in the a$$ for not double checking before I bought it. = /
