I might believe that can house anaerobic bacteria, but I don't think it can contain bacteria that can eliminate organic matter.

We have discussed this before, I believe it was jp who was talking to the guy who sells it. The general opinion is no don't use it. The guy who imports it was talking large amounts of crap

It is quite obvious that the narrator is not a scientist of any sort, certainly not a chemist or biologist. The use of language is pathetic and advertises his basic lack of background on the topic he is trying to "explain". Ask any diver whether or not N2 (nitrogen gas) is soluble - they will tell you the truth. But he lists it as insoluble. Folks do advertise their own ignorance. I did not listen much past that - there was no point.

Terrance: What do you think breaks down organic matter in the wild? The nitrogen cycle is quite real. It does encompass multiple paths, but the anaerobes are big and valuable players in the wild.

Anaerobic filters can and do work, but they are "fiddly" (i.e., they require delicate adjustment and frequent attention to operate properly and safely) and are potentially high-risk. If you know what you are doing, they certainly can and will work. But water partials are cheaper and far less expensive and orders of magnitude less fiddly.

I am a scientist. I have operated a variety of anaerobic filters out of curiosity and as tests, and they all "worked" to some degree. I have never operated one routinely as they require too much attention and care. IMNOHO (In My Not So Humble Opinion) they are not worth the effort or the care and thought they require for optimum or even just safe performance. Denirificaton anaerobic filters can work, but they are neither simple nor safe unless you know what you are doing. Even then, the units such as this one shown in the video are high risk items.
