DP gender ratios?
My original plan was to have one male and the rest females, like I've seen suggested... pretty much everywhere. Harem-style.
Though, the more I think about it, the more I lean toward an all-female tank. Is this possible/recommended? Maybe I'm not looking hard enough, but I can't seem to find any information on a male DP being integral in a group of females. I'm not planning to breed, and I seem to enjoy the females more anyway. I prefer their aesthetics as well as their apparent personalities.
So, saying that I had a group of... 5, perhaps. Would it be okay to have all females? Will one female emerge as a dominant presence and essentially take on the role of alpha male, or will they be content to simply be a group?
Also, I know that this depends on individuals, but is there a chance that this could cut down on aggression? I already have a spare tank set up for QT as well as to separate aggressors to be returned and exchanged for more passive personalities.

Re: DP gender ratios?
I've read before that you can have 3 females to 1 male.
There would be no problems having just all females

for some reason in my experience, the females seem to be more aggressive than males lol, but id rather have all females than more than one male at a time.

I have three females and one male, the three females had small fights but never seen them nip each other just trying. They all moved out of the males way when ever he went near them.

Re: DP gender ratios?
I've never had multiple DPs before, but I've read that having more than 1 male is likely to end up with aggression issue. All females are ok too.
Kind regards,

I have 1 large male who kills any other DPs I put in with him. Guess he's a loner.

Re: DP gender ratios?
So, no one here has any experience with a large-ish group of only females?
I guess I'm heading into strange territory! I'm going to give it a shot, and I'll be watching their behavior almost constantly.
I just wanted to be sure in case someone felt that the group would fall apart without a male in the ranks.
