Snails are touch and go with puffers. Buy cheap and hope they dont get eaten lol. None are totally safe.
It's amazing how easy maintenance is. If done regularly and thoroughly

Yep I know he will probably eat them as I already feed him ramshorns. I might try out a different kind though.

My GSP's don't crush the Ramshorns that I put int he tank they just suck them out of the shell.

I have snails with both my F8 and GSP. Luau the F8 picked at the nerite zebra snails that I put in there for the first week or so, but he left them alone after that (I keep him well fed so he doesn't pick on them unnecessarily) and Yoshi my GSP goes by the rule "If it has eyes, I don't eat it" she only eats stuff I put in her tank for her, and none of her tank mates, which include a starry blenny, two turbo snails, a handful of nerite snails, 7 astea snails, 2 emeralds and 1 little un-identifiable red crab. Again, I think keeping her well fed helps with this as well.
5.5g: Pond snails
5.5g: Red Cherry Shrimp and Rams
10g: PZ the Pee Wee (DP), Ghost shrimp, Otos x3
36g: Luau the F8, Zebra nerites x8, sometimes a herd of ghost shrimp for food
60g: Perches the starry blenny, 1 watchman goby Snaps the l.c. hermit, 2 emerald crabs, 1 red crab, 2 turbos, 7 asteas, 2 nerites, 2 clown gobies and 2 firefish gobies (upgrading to a 90 gallon reef)

RIP Yoshi, you are dearly missed <3

sgtmyers, crush the snails against the glass and then he has to chew on the whole thing or is the snails are small enough, he should just bite through the whole thing, thats what figgy does and she wont leave the shell alone until she is sure theres nothing left in it.

also, what is with gsps and eyes? lol i know sevenyearnight also mentioned that balki wont eat things with eyes

if the rocks arent too big, you could always move it into a container of tank water and add some ramshorns to clear out the algae then put it back in the tank. unfortunately my glass has algae on it so i have to figure out some algae eaters that figgy wont bother.

LoL I am not sure what is with GSPs and eyes. I am just glad that Yoshi has the same mentality of Balki LOL. I can have a few cool lookin' tank mates. Yoshi doesn't mess with Perches or the firefish. I have even seen them "looking" at the same things side by side, then get bored and both go their opposite ways. The people at the LFS don't believe me for a second, but it's ok, I have a better source of information than they do ^.^

Try the nerite snails. SYN recommended to me the olive nerites, but my LFS only had zebra. They do wonders for algea, and they can be in FW, BW or SW. I have 8 in the tank with Luau, and he did pick at them mercilessly when I first got them, but after he realized that he couldn't eat them and they weren't very interesting, he just now leaves them alone. And let me tell you, they are mean, green algea fighting machines! I love them!

LoL, HTH
