30 gal for my beta?

I'd recommend loading your tank full of the fish you want first, then put the betta in. That way he'll be "the new guy" instead of having established territory. This is how I introduced a male betta into my tank with plenty of other fish and there have been on problems. I don't "manage" his presence in any way, he has free reign and I've never seen him nip at anyone or even chase. He spent all of his life in a tiny vase until I rescued him into my 29 gallon.

i would do that if i had somewhere to put the beta, but i dont (besides the bowl). Anyway the corys are all doing good but they wont school! i only got 3 at first to see if they would work so do u think when i add more they will start to school, also do the albino ones get along with the regular ones? A friend gave me 5 neon tetras to see if they will work (if not ill give em back). any ideas on what the plant is? should i create a new thread for that?

Neons and bettas do not go well together IME. I tried with several bettas when I was younger and never had any luck. They always nipped my bettas up.

I think it's best to keep one type of cory. Before I sold my cories I had 3 different types together. 4 (2 different species) I got off of another hobbyist as they needed the fish gone and 9 from the store (sterbai). They all hung out together but each type preferred their conspecifics. I always felt bad for the random ones as they didn't really have a group of their own.

Betas also like live daphnia and live blood worms

Any live or frozen invertebrate food (assuming it's safe and is the right size) is great. I have fed bettas bloodworms, blackworms, brine shrimp, mysis shrimp, plankton, glassworms, krill, fruit flies, pinhead crickets, triops hatchlings, crushed snails (shell particles removed), and even shrimp or prawns from the grocery store. About safety: Make sure to quarantine live food or take other appropriate safety measures, and if it's dead, it should either be frozen and packaged for fish or spend a couple days in your freezer. Also, don't use anything that they'd have trouble digesting, like mealworms/superworms.

A word about pellets - it's important to get one that lists a seafood ingredient first rather than wheat or something like that, and it's best to give them something that lists an invertebrate ingredient first, since bettas in the wild are insectivores and eat both aquatic and terrestrial insects/larvae. The fewer the non-meat ingredients, the better. If you can find a variety of pellets that meet these qualifications, all the better. My betta's staple diet is a mixture of New Life Spectrum Betta (first ingredient - krill) and New Life Spectrum Finicky Fish (first ingredient - mussel). Other good ones: Atison's, Omega One (needs to be crushed because the Small Fish pellets are pretty big), New Life Spectrum Grow, New Life Spectrum Small Fish, and Ken's Betta Micro Crumble (not the betta pellets!) from kensfish.com.

the first 3 ingretient in my pelets areWhole Salmon, Halibut, and Shrimp. Is that good? i tryed feeding him both freez dryed and frozen blood worms but he couldnt seem to get his mouth around them, he doesnt eat alot of foods because he cant swalow them or somthing, somtmes hell get them inside his mouth but spit them out other times he just cant get them inside his mouth these pellets see to be the only thing he can eat anyway ive been feeding the corys wardley shrimp pellet formula is that good for them? ill asume there also geting som of the other fish food from the botom as well.

Yes, those betta pellets sound good.

Don't use freeze-dried food or flakes.

Try daphnia. It's very small.

I have a betta in 20 gallon long with a school of cardinals tetras and a school of cherry barbs they are doing very well together. Please don't attempt any other type of barb cherry barbs arent even related to other barbs such as tigers or rosies.

Mollies and platties also do well with betas.

updates: hes doing good i added the neons and they are fine at first he seemd interested but then gave up when he relized he could never cach them. they dont nip him there busy playing tag among themselvs
