Planted Tank

Well, if it is just bulbs I can do that. I just have to look. I was in the LFS asking some questions, just nosing about. Sorry been so late to reply, have been moving the last 4 days and this is my first time at a computer haha. So I am thinking substrate and better lighting, hopefully that will be good. I'll let you know more when I know more haha. Still have to look into a new tank for Luau.

**side note: I did get the big tank moved finally. Makes me question my senses when I think about wanting another tank (a bigger one even) for Luau LOL. But, I want the best for him, so I know I will do it anyways.

I tried bulbs once, a lot of those are DOA. Just to be on the safe side I don't buy anything unless it's got a little green showing...and I'm not buying anything from that LFS again unless I intend on spending another night identifying the new lifeforms (benign yay!) that come with bulbs sometimes...oh yeah, lot's of stuff to look for if you're new to planted tanks read up picking good bulbs first.

booo bulbs are awesome! Of the plants I have cared for in my limited time, bulbs were my favorite. There is just something about the beauty of the plant and its self propagating traits that attracted me.

Hint to J-P: Keep big tanks and collect Crinums. They are a fun family.

River lilies? ohhhhhhhh Don't tell the wife.

We lost most of our lilies when we moved and that was a HUGE ($1000's) loss.

If you keep the emerse forms, she will smell them when they bloom. I do cut off most buds because I don't like most fragrances indoors. Emerse Crinum have elegant blooms and smell like the proverbial French houses of ill repute. The emerse foms bloom from spring to fall under strong light, only periodically under moderate light

All forms do throw pups routinely under good light and need thinning periodically, so seed growth is not required.

Could i say one think,

Aquatic plants use light in the red and blue areas of the spectrum most efficiently. They are less efficient at using green and yellow light, but they are also capable of using even this part of the spectrum as long as the intensity is adequate.
