Dwarf puffers n shrimp,

Post by Critch »

Ello peeps,

I have 10gal with two dwarf puffers,
I know people keep various ottos with them and some times Amano shrimp, but has anyone tried cherry shrimp with them,
The reason is I am after getting the shrimp to breed, Amano req salt water for the eggs to hatch,
Now I know my puffers will eat snails, frozen n live blood worm, but will not touch prawns or cockles,

But are very very curious, anything new in the tank and they are straight over,,

Thanks Paul

They will most likely eat the cherrys, defo the young.
It's amazing how easy maintenance is. If done regularly and thoroughly

When i had four dwarf puffers they never attacked the ghost shrimp i had. They would surly eat the new born shrimp though.

My DPs never bothered adult ghost or cherry shrimp, but my cherries didn't breed until they were in a pufferless tank - well, they did breed, but the babies all got eaten.
"I will give you a talisman. Whenever you are in doubt, or when the self becomes too much with you, apply the following test. Recall the face of the poorest and the weakest man whom you may have seen, and ask yourself, if the step you contemplate is going to be of any use to him or her. Will she gain anything by it? Will it restore her to a control over her own life and destiny? In other words, will it lead to freedom for the hungry and spiritually starving millions? Then you will find your doubts and your self melt away."

it all depends on the dp. mine never bothered shrimp. or maybe the shrimp just had good hiding places until it got dark.
Never trust big puffers. The fingers you save may be your own. -RTR
