How large is your tank, what are the inhabitants, what do you feed, and what is your water change schedule?

It is absurd to talk of one animal being higher than another. We consider those, when the cerebral structure/intellectual faculties most developed, as highest. A bee doubtless would when the instincts were.

I tend not to believe anyone who claims to keep 4 LIVE fahakas in the same tank for any length of time.

I agree pp. Bit iffy. Everyone I have seen or heard of shot to about a foot in length

Re: has any one herd of fahakas from Lake Turkana
The tank is way too small. My Fahakas were QT'd in 30- and 40-longs and moved to 120s after QT, individually and always singly - no tankmates at all. All 3 were still babies w/immature coloring w/o any stripes yet in QT or the early months in the larger tanks.

Re: has any one herd of fahakas from Lake Turkana
there is the problem. one of the best ways to stunt a fish, is to have it in a tank too small for even a grow out stage. were there any other tank mates? how long was it housed in the 30 breeder?rs30 wrote:tank size 30breeder was going to move to 120 but no growth so did not

Yes the Turkana topic has been discussed here in the past:

To my knowledge no fahaka puffers are exported from this lake at all.

no tank mates i shoul move to 120 or my 200 i did not know you could stunt there growth i was told not to put in 120 as baby by a so called expert whit a college degree so at 9 months do you think it to late to grow. Thanks u guys
Re: has any one herd of fahakas from Lake Turkana
Unfortunately they should go in a large tank from the very beginning. At 9 months the fish is most definitely stunted. Once in a bigger tank it will grow but there's no telling how slowly it will grow or how large it will become. I'd move it to the 120 and see what happens. Best of luck!

He will still grow a little I am certain. Mine grew to about a foot in the first 14 ish months, has only grown about 2" more since. It will get bigger in the 120 but will remain smaller than others

Look forward, the past can't be changed. He will love the 120. We have to learn from our mistakes, it's all we can do once we've made them and we all make mistakes.

I feel worse for those 4 fahakas! Glad you're doing the right thing for your fish.
