Suggestions for 30g SW GSP tank

Setting up a 30g SW for a GSP tank.
Short Term goal: SW tank for GSP (1)
Long term Goals: SW tank for GSP (1) with live rock and possibly clown(s) as tankmate
Looking for opinion on some choices: I would like to have less initial investment at first.

Main purchase required for this tank.
Filtration: Can I start (getaway) with a HOB (provided adequate maintenance ie WC, etc)? or would a fluval 205 canister I have available be a option?
Later adding skimmer and wet/dry down the road, if I have to.
This tank is to be located in bedroom and would prefer quieter options. Although, I recognize that wet/dry is ultimately the best choice.

Welcome to the forum!

IMO just go full marine from the get go. It will save you some $$ on the conversion and swapping out the filters etc...

Live rock, skimmer, and good flow.

If down the road you want to add any other tankmates may I suggest a bigger tank. 30 gallon is the min. for one GSP with no tankmates and most people think that is two small.

If you want tank mates, you're gonna have to up to a 55g.

+1 to the larger tank size suggestions. IMHO, a 30 w/LR is too small for a GSP, It will not have anything near 30 gallons of water in it.

It would have very limited swimming space for a mature GSP, even alone with no tankmate.
