Mangrove lighting

Post by 1bamafan »

What is the most realistic looking light for mangrove tanks. I have GPS in a 30g tanks and I want it to look and feel like home. Right now I have a natural sun light in. I read somewhere on another site that GPS' like low light. Any suggestions?

For a mangrove I used 4 each 48" NO fluorescents over a 20-long tank, 12 hours per day*. The tank itself was pretty well shady.

The issue for me would be that the mangove tank need to be open topped - I would not keep a GSP in an open tank.

*the tank is visible at:

Scroll down through the other shots to one labelled:

"Now that's a veggie filter!"

Currently it is FW and planted w/emerse Crinums, but it is the same setup used previously for BW.

Heya! I have a mangrove slowly growing in my GSP tank. What I plan to do when it's bigger is open top the tank but cover it with acrylic :). Leaving holes for the mangrove to come out of and a space for my finger to go in when I need to open the top on up. If your really paranoid about the holes you can put some screen or something :)
Current fish :
Spot(GSP), Fancy Fin Goldfish, One Danio (Sanchez, last of the tribe)

Posting the same thing in more than 1 forum. It gets confusing answering a question or responding to the same statement in 2 threads.
