Adequate lights for nano reef?

Post by thenewpufferintown »

say, hypothetically, i had a 5 gallon hex tank that i wanted to turn into a nano reef. say, i had two coralife reef 50/50 bulbs (10w i believe). would this be adequate for coral growth?

Depends on the corals. It's good for softies. I never liked the color of a 50/50 though.

When I was researching nano tanks a while back this light was recommended a lot. It comes it lots of other colors, as well.

I'm going to recommend looking into a boost led par 30. you can get 1 with a fixture for under $100, it should be able to support SPS in a 5 gallon. The price difference will be made up in about a year after bulb replacements.
I'm pretty sure I have a blue thumb.
