hydrometer leaking help!?

Post by GSPfreak »

are hydrometers suppose to leak i bough the Kent marine hydrometer and it leaks a lot! in like 15min all the water is gone is that normal because on the packaging i says to "condition the needle by letting salty water sit in it for 24 hours" how am i suppose to do that if there's no water left in it in 15min?

You could just leave it in your tank over night. Perhaps weigh it down so it doesn't float

Is it a box-type?
You are getting sleepy... you only hear the sound of my voice... you must do water changes... water changes... water changes... water changes...

They should not leak! Did you buy it at a store? Bring it back.

Either way, just rinse it with hot water fill with tank water, read the SG & dump.

I had a swing arm for the first 6 months of my tank. I just got a refractometer and i like it much better. it was $25 on ebay from nis sales or some thing like that. my swing arm has been accurate the whole time, but the refractometer is EXACT and you only need 3 drops to test so there is no mess.
I'm pretty sure I have a blue thumb.
