Hi,
New to the forum. I am sure that this info. is probably contained already somewhere but I am in a hurry.
We will not rush with getting the fish, but there is a 75G used tank that is for sale in our area. It looks great, just not sure if it is the size we will need.
Our plan is to get a puffer and this will be our first fish. We are open to different species, just not sure we want a really small type.
As I said we will not rush to get the fish and will research and get help with cycling, get the best filtration etc.
Question - what specific puffer would you put in a 75 g salt water tank? My research this far says no crabs or decorative shrimp etc, but are there any coral that we could use to give the tank color? Are we limited to live rock and a few tough plants with puffers?
We would also be happy with one cute puffer, but it would be nice to have two fish swimming in the tank.
Would we be better going with a 90g to have one other fish?
We looked into a full marine, salt water tank, but realized we don't need the one fish of every kind and one coral of every kind look. Just don't like a stark bare feel of live rock only.
I am doing research now and we have debated fish for months. Trying to find what will be best in the long run for us and the fish. That 75g looks really good and I would hate to miss out on it if it is just what we need.

A couple of gsp puffers should be ok in there. Corals and puffers is touch and go, leathers are the safest option. The 90g will always be the best option tho as bigger is always better
It's amazing how easy maintenance is. If done regularly and thoroughly

I agree with the choice of GSPs. Plus, you can save $$$ by starting them off in FW (this is what they generally keep them in the stores) & slowly move it to brackish & then marine, within the next 2 years. This will give you time to learn about water changes & keeping your puffer correctly, adding/mixing salt & eventually save up for live rock, protein skimmer & powerheads for SW, when they are adults.
