Any opinions on which type of rocks to use?

I guess dead "live rock" would work, or some white holestone?

That water density is so close to FW that no more than two 50% water partial are required. They can be done a week apart, but I would likely make them a couple of weeks apart, with the partial in-between at the same density as first change brought the density up to. I get very conservative on shifts in water make-up.

Looking forward to pics of the finished project. How do you plan on cycling?

Have not even thought about it yet. But I'll guess I'll do a classic cycling, wait for the ammonia/nitrite to go down before I add any fish. Will probably wait a month or two before adding any puffers.

Fishless cycling? Check to see what SG the fish you are looking at to house are being kept at in the shop you'll be buying them from. It's usually FW.

At the moment I'm using the tank as a temporary live rock storage for my upcoming SW tank, so there will not be any pics soon :(
But I will post pics as soon there are anything to show!

Yes, I'll be doing a fishless cycling.
Good point about what SG the LFS keeps the puffer in, didn't think about that, will have to check that!

Bring your own hydrometer/refractometer.

Information about my setup:

Aquarium: 150(liters), 40(gallons)
(cm): 75(length) x 40(depth) x 50(height)
(inches): 29.5(length) x 15.7(depth) x 19.7(height)

Filtration:
Will be uswing an EHEIM professionel 3 2073 http://www.aquaristic.net/EHEIM-profess ... l?qwizer=1 external filter and 1 or 2 Tunze 6025 circulation pumps http://www.tunze.com/149.html?&L=1&C=US ... oxunter052

Noticed now when calculating the volume, the tank is actually 40 gallons not 45 as stated in the topic!
