I built a box with 5 ceiling mounted bulb fixtures inside and 1 flourescent fixture. its suspended over the tank. I will probably add 2 more par 30s when i can afford it. you could just get the clamp lamp they sell with the bulb if you wanted, I just didn't want 5 of them on a 30" tank. I also saw somewhere some guy hang some IKEA box pendants over the tank which looked amazing.

Sounds awesome! Hmmm, I wonder if my bf could help my retrofit my CFL hood to use those bulbs....that would be awesome, LoL. Sorry, I am still so new at lighting, so I can't help but ask, would you mind looking at the link I posted and give me your opinion of those? Also, if I did get that fixture, is there a way to upgrade the LEDs to 3 watt by myself? I wasn't sure how that worked...

I actually bought one. it was pretty cool especially the dimming feature. but it was really cheaply built and the screw base seperated from the body of the bulb. Luckily i caught it before it dropped into the tank. it's about the same price as the boost leds but the boosts are so much better built. also the wholesalers is only 1 watt leds so it wont penetrate as deeply even with its 30 degree optics. if you really want to go high quality, the orphek pr25 is the best you can get but, they are 200 each. the boost led seemed to be the next best and very reasonably priced.

didn't see your second ? the leds are 3 watt they are just underdriven to 2 watt because the heatsink isn't big enough to deal with the full power. I think rapid LED has 3 watts in theirs but they are 120 if i remember correctly.
