I would of thought 'refugia and or circulating ranges ' , primary use would be for keeping a main display tank clean, but i suppose used for raising fry etc to ....ie keeping predators and potential prey apart ...RTR wrote:Predators and prey in the same highly limited water volume and swimming space is IMHO & IME, never good or stable.

He lives with Chinese algae eaters. They only got moved to his tank because they were too vicious for my other tanks

Another thing to consider is that as puffers age they become more aggressive so short term success of 1-2 years may still lead to heart break as the puffer hits sexual maturity and begins attacking his tank mates.

+1 to puffykid's comments. Puffers are not short-term fish. To me it is far easier and safer to set for long-term to start off and have it done right from the get-go. Territoriality and aggression really kick in with sexual maturity.
