How big is your tank? also how tall is it... Powerglo and Aquaglo are quite good lighting... those plants need from 40 to 50 lumen per liter to grow dense.
Im not sure about the exact reason..
Let there be light, and lit up the days... Let there be puffers, and they swam around the world...

I don't have the exact measurements to hand but it's 125 litres in volume.

Cheers, that's the highest form of flattery! Good luck with it and don't forget to post a pic. But don't make it better than mine! :-)

lol a setup contest already?

Well PD, i think we got a lighting problem, those plants need theoretically 1 watt per liter, but i prefer lumen per liter.

I guess your lamps are 60 cm (24" or 30" ); 20 W... doesn't it?
so, they produce... POWER-GLO: 1400 lumens, aprox , AQUA-GLO 500 lumens, aprox, we have 1900 lumens / 100 liters = 19lm/lt.

19lm/lt, its not enough for those plants to grow like you want, we need at least 30lm/lt
I recommend you to add a SUN-GLO or a TRUE-LITE tube, it will give you +1650 lumen, that will be 35lm/lt.

By the way, did i told you i love your puff-daddy image? lol

Thanks, that's very useful advice. Do you think a combination of SUN-GlO and TRUE-LITE would be the better solution, or a maybe different coupling?

umm... putting 1 SUN-GlO and 1 TRUE-LITE instead of the ones you have?
it could work if you don't have the chance to add a third tube, juts be sure that the new tubes fit on your structure before you buy them...

hey warlord238! does arrowhead tend to bury them selves? i don't have experience with that puffers, but I'm sure all puffers need a cave or a shaded area to rest from light, at least my gsp tend to bite some leaves to make a little vegetal cave and rest lol

Do these come in 25W? I've had a hard time finding a true-lite tube...

:O this is such a cool setup! I've just been researching plants to use in my brackish tank.!!!!! My LFS just said he's ordering some for me that they don't have stock of. After reading a brackish plants post here and then doing extra research about what lighting and hardiness I have decided on moneywort, watersprite, african tiger lotus if he can get it. I have a couple new java fern already still latching onto my rocks, but it's not quite complete yet.
Hopefully I can also find a nice piece of driftwood on the beach sometime. Is there a procedure I should undergo to disinfect or treat any driftwood found on the beach before putting it in with my f8's ?

Again, nice job on your tank!
