Green Water

Post by xvCODY »

So, a 48 hour total blackout, plus polypad did nothing for my green water. I'm going out in a few minutes in search for a willow tree to try the branch method. Any other "remedies" that anybody knows about?

I figured something out, i think. I did a 50% WC and in natural light (from outside) the water looks orange instead of green. I also noticed the big piece of dead coral i had in my tank was turning orange around the bottom "trunk" area. It's now removed, 50% fresh SW, cleaned filter and 2 willow branches. The polypad turned orange which according to the package means it was filtering Iron. Could that piece of dead coral, if that's what it was, be reacting with the SW and leaching loads of iron?

Fixed the problem and i have crystal clear water again. The lace rock in my tank was leaching loads of metals into the water. Must've just been a bad batch of rock. All is well again! =D
